Moldovan electoral body registers another four candidates for president office

Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/ - Four candidates for the Moldovan president office today were recorded in the electoral race for the presidential polls due this autumn. At the same time, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) turned down the candidacies of another four electoral contenders.
According to CEC’s decisions, the candidate of the Dreapta (Right) Party, Ana Gutu, and the independent candidates, Valeriu Ghiletchi, Maia Laguta and Silvia Radu, have been recorded.
The registered competitors said that, on the days to come, they would officially start the electoral campaign and would subsequently unveil their programme for the presidential polls.
At the same time, CEC, at a today’s meeting, rejected the applications on registration by four candidates: Ion Dron, Roman Mihaies, Vasile Tarlev and Vitalia Pavlicenco, for failing to present the needed number of signatures to be recorded in the electoral race.
Direct presidential elections will take place in Moldova on 30 October 2016. CEC has recorded 12 candidates for the Moldovan president post: Marian Lupu – on behalf of the Democratic Party, Mihai Ghimpu – Liberal Party, Iurie Leanca – European People’s Party of Moldova, Andrei Nastase – Dignity and Truth Political Party, Ina Popenco – Ravnopravie (Equality of Rights), Dumitru Ciubasenco – Our Party, Maia Sandu – Action and Solidarity Party and Igor Dodon – Party of Socialists, as well as the four aforementioned contenders registered by CEC today.
