Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service has received 23 new trucks for intervention in case of fires, rescue and extrication, purchased by the Moldovan government through a project on strengthening the service of rescuers and firemen in Moldova’s rural settlements, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip today participated in a ceremony on handing over the keys from the new vehicles to the heads of the aforementioned Service.
On this occasion, the prime minister thanked the public authorities of Moldova and partners from Austria, involved in the project’s implementation. Filip stressed that the purchasing of the new intervention vehicles was very important both for firemen, who will have better and safer conditions for work, and for the citizens, who will benefit from more qualitative services, provided in a short time.
“The new trucks will allow shortening the period of time for intervention in emergency situations, when each minute and each second can be measured not only through material damage, but also in human lives. Therefore, this investment, made by the government, is in the lives of our fellow citizens, which will be able to be saved due to this equipment,” Pavel Filip said.
In the context, the prime minister said that it was extremely important to provide quick and qualitative intervention services to residents from villages in crisis situations. “I am glad that, through this project, we manage not only to consolidate and modernize the services provided by rescuers and firemen, but also to convey a message of trust and more safety in the society,” Pavel Filip said.
The modern intervention technology was bought with a loan worth six million euros, provided by UniCredit Bank, Austria, to the Moldovan government in preferential conditions.
