Moldovan premier meets with Ukrainian president

Chisinau, 7 October /MOLDPRES/ – Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip held a meeting with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at the border crossing point Palanca-Mayaki-Udobnoe, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The two officials wanted to highlight by the chosen location, the determination and openness to successful cooperation between Moldova and Ukraine. At the same time, the officials appreciated the good political dialogue between the sides.

Pavel Filip and Petro Poroshenko said that Moldova and Ukraine proved effectiveness and interest to resolve all arisen problems, for instance in the area of ​​ citizens’ movement. "Point Palanca is a symbol of friendship and good understanding between our countries. We decided together with the European Union to build here a common border crossing point," said the President of Ukraine.

The parts agreed within the Eastern Partnership project, supported by the European Union, to build on this segment a modern border crossing point, having the best equipment.

The European Union allocates funds required for this purpose, while teams of border guards of Moldova and Ukraine will ensure a fast and smooth crossing of the border.

"Very often, people when they hear about collaboration think of something abstract, today this collaboration outlines become real, these projects will be realized because there is the will and these are in the interest of citizens of Moldova and Ukraine," said the Prime Minister Pavel Filip.

The head of Moldovan government said that with the launch of this project, there would not be rows and customs control procedures will be carried out very quickly in the comfort of the citizens of Moldova and Ukraine.

The officials noted that they discussed various aspects of bilateral relations and reached some concrete agreements. Among them are: organization in the nearest future the meeting between Prime Minister Pavel Filip and his Ukrainian counterpart, as well as preparation meeting of the Moldovan-Ukrainian economic cooperation, which has not taken place since 2011.

Pavel Filip and Petro Poroshenko said that the achieved agreements would help to boost further cooperation in economic, cultural, humanitarian and social areas.
