Meteorologists forecast heavy rains, frosts in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/ – The State Hydro meteorological Service (SHS) announced for 8 – 10 October the Yellow Code of heavy rains and frosts.
According to SHS’s forecasts on Saturday in the central and southern districts will fall heavy rains (15-25 litres per square meter). Northwest wind will present intensification of up to 15-20 metres per second, isolated – up to 22 metres per second.
On 9-10 October in the northern districts of the country is expected frost on the soil surface with the intensity of -2 degrees Celsius.
According to specialists, the Yellow Code weather conditions are potentially dangerous, the forecast weather phenomena (rain, lightning, wind intensification of high or low temperatures, risk of flow levels increases in rivers and rivulets etc.) are common for Moldova, but temporarily can become dangerous for certain socio-economic activities.
At their turn, farmers say these are beneficial rains for crops sown in the autumn, but less for winegrowers who failed to gather grapes. "At the same time, farmers who have not gathered corn yet should not worry about it. When stored in good conditions, it will dry out with time", said many agronomists.
