Swedish parliament speaker declares Sweden to continue supporting Moldova in more spheres

Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/ – Sweden will continue to support Moldova through a range of programs towards the decision-taking transparency, legal institutions strengthening, information technologies, gender equality and enhancing the living standards. The statement was made today by the Parliament Speaker of Sweden, Urban Ahlin, after a meeting with Moldovan Speaker Andrian Candu.
According to those two officials, the main topics in the discussion, focused upon the reform agenda and the EU Association Agreement implementation.
The Swedish parliament speaker said that in 2016, Sweden began a new plan for cooperation with Moldova. "My country is a major donor for Moldova and this is because we believe it can become a prosperous and thriving country. So, in order to develop this objective, we are ready to support you further," Urban Ahlin said.
At his part, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu said that Sweden repeatedly promoted the idea of Eastern Partnership for Moldova. "Sweden contributes greatly to our country's development in various fields such as energy, agriculture and promoting women's rights. At the same time, this country both at EU level and for us is a model on economic development, social tolerance, but also in political terms. That is the reason why, we will continue this beautiful friendship that has established between our countries," Andrian Candu said.
Parliament Speaker of Sweden Urban Ahlin, pays on 8-10 October an official visit to Moldova, where he will have meetings with President of the Republic of Moldova Nicolae Timofti, Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip, Foreign Policy Committee Chairman and European integration Valentina Buliga, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European integration Andrei Galbur.
