Moldovan PM, Romanian ambassador discuss bilateral projects' implementation

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita. The officials discussed developments recorded in implementing bilateral and European projects, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister thanked the Romanian authorities for the assistance provided to modernize the infrastructure in Moldova, as well as for the support provided to start new projects. “I voice confidence that there is still unexplored potential to boost the bilateral relations, in the spirit of the strategic partnership for Moldova’s European integration. We want this partnership become stronger and we are fully committed to this end,” Pavel Filip said.
For his part, the Romanian diplomat said that it was important that the two states coordinate their strategic priorities of development, so that the needed money be budgeted and the best conditions be ensured to implement the bilateral projects. At the same time, Daniel Ionita said that Romania was backing Moldova’s European integration and would further provide the needed support to enforce the provisions of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.
An important subject of the dialogue was the construction of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline, the goal of which is to diversity Moldova’s energy market. In the context, Prime Minister Pavel Filip appreciated the Romanian government’s decision to provide Moldova with non-refundable financing worth 550,000 euros, to work out a detailed technical project on extending the works of construction of the gas pipeline on the Ungheni-Chisinau segment.
Also, the officials exchanged opinions on the results achieved within the Joint Operational Programme Romania-Ukraine-Moldova 2007-2013, the implementation of which was prolonged by the European Commission till 31 December 2016. At the meeting, the sides also considered developments recorded in the implementation of projects in the environment sector, as well as the degree of turning to account the Romanian assistance for development.
