Moldovan speaker meets first Latvian ambassador to Moldova

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ – Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu had a meeting with the first resident Ambassador of Latvia to Chisinau, Atis Lots, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported. 

The discussions focused on the European agenda and developments of Moldova, legislative priorities of the current Moldovan parliament session and the Moldovan-Latvian relationships’ development.

Andrian Candu said that the Moldovan parliament manifested interest in taking over the experience and good practices of Latvian European integration, especially at the legislative level.

"We appreciate the fact that Latvia and the Baltic States in general have always supported Moldova on its European path. Our priority is to implement EU Association Agreement and Latvia's experience and support will assist us," said the speaker of parliament.

Andrian Candu said that authorities developed specific actions and projects to recover the citizens’ confidence. According to the speaker, the Roadmap for the reform agenda priority was a good mobilization exercise, at present being developed an action plan for the Association Agreement implementation within the upcoming two years.

"Moldova can prove to EU to be able to assure stability and security, as well as stipulate examples of good results in reforms’ implementation," ​​said Andrian Candu.

At his part, Ambassador Atis Lots sent to Moldova, being in the process of European integration, some messages of support from Latvia, encouraging further reforms of the European agenda.

Atis Lots handed in an invitation to Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, from his Latvian counterpart, to pay an official visit to Latvia.
