Moldovan servicemen in Kosovo take part in charity action

Chisinau, 12 October /MOLDPRES/ - National Army servicemen from the KFOR mission, along with colleagues from other continents, participated in a charity action titled DANCON (Danish Contingency), organized by Danish military.
The head of the public relations service at the Defence Ministry, Diana Gradinaru, has told MOLDPRES that over 1,100 servicemen from 31 states, participating in the KFOR operation, took part in DANCON March. The charity action was aimed at collecting financial sources for a school from the Novo Selo settlement, as well as for two Danish hospitals specialized in treatment of cancer in children. The fee for participating in the action was 20 euros.
Within the charity action, the servicemen of Moldova covered a distance of 40 km in the Novo Selo settlement, Kosovo, carrying on their backs campaign knapsacks with a weight of about 20 kg and the national flag.
DANCON March is a tradition of the Danish army dating back from 1972. So far, the march has taken place in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, as well as in other countries, to which the Danish army detached troops to participate in humanitarian or peacekeeping missions.
The fifth National Army contingent, which is part of the Multinational Battle Group West (MBGW), left for Kosovo on 5 June 2016 and has a mandate of six months. The contingent is made up of 41 military, of whom one staff officer, seven engineers and a platoon of 33 servicemen carrying out missions of security and guard of military objects and patrolling.
