Over 70 Moldovan settlements still disconnected from power supply because of heavy rains

Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/ - Over 70 settlements from 14 districts are still disconnected from power supply in the wake of the heavy rains of the last two days. The press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service (SPCSE), Diana Turcanu, has confirmed the information for MOLDPRES.
“Presently, settlements from the districts of Straseni, Orhei, Telenesti, Calarasi, Nisporeni, Ialoveni, Causeni, Stefan Voda, Anenii Noi, Hincesti, Cahul, Cantemir, Taraclia, Cimislia and Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauz-Yeri are still in blackout. Specialized teams work locally to reconnect the consumers,” Turcanu noted.
Rescuers from southern Moldova on 12 October intervened to remove the trees which fell on vehicles and roads. Nobody has suffered in the wake of these incidents. In Cahul, SCPSE employees pumped water from more yards.
The authorities further monitor the situation and urge the citizens to call rescuers at 901 in case of need for help and comply with specialists’ indications.
The orange code of heavy rains expires today. At the same time, the State Hydrometeorological Service set the yellow code of frost all over Moldova for 14-19 October.
