Chisinau, 13 October /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament adopted the National Strategy of Regional Development for 2016-2020 at a meeting today. The document was backed with the votes of 50 MPs.
At the meeting, Deputy Regional Development and Constructions Minister Anatol Usatii said “the new regional development policy is set to ensure citizens’ access to professional public services, stimulate the sustainable economic growth in regions and improve the normative and legislative framework regulating the competitive development of settlements.”
At the same time, the document aims to encourage the development of infrastructure, local enterprises and support the entrepreneurial activity, in order to reduce differences of development between and within regions, as well as improve the residents’ living standards.
The National Strategy of Regional Development for 2016-2020 was worked out in line with the commitments assumed in the Association Agreement between Moldova and European Union and the goals set in the Moldova 2020 National Development Strategy.
Also today, the MPs of the factions of the Party of Socialists and Party of Communists walked out of the session hall as a token of protest. The Socialists took this decision, after the parliamentary majority had turned down the Socialist lawmakers’ intention to introduce on the agenda a draft of a new motion of censure against the Filip Government. At the same time, the Communist MPs said they left the session hall, as the working agenda failed to comprise subjects representing the true needs of the citizens.
