Turkish ambassador first ever visits Gagauz autonomy

Chisinau, 14 October /MOLDPRES/ - New Ambassador of Turkey to Moldova Hulusi Kiliç visited the Gagauz-Yeri Autonomous Territorial Unit, southern Moldova, for the first time ever today. At a meeting with the autonomy’s leadership, the Turkish diplomat discussed more aspects of the bilateral cooperation, according to the press service of the Comrat administration.
The region’s authorities thanked the ambassador for backing the autonomy, stressing that “Turkey has always been by the side of the Gagauz people.”
Bashkan (governor) of Gagauz-Yeri Irina Vlah highlighted the assistance of the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), due to which the works of repair of a block of flats in Ceadir-Lunga, hit by the last summer floods, have been completed.
At the same time, the sides discussed an agreement on cooperation between UTA Gagauz-Yeri and Bursa region of Turkey.
Following the meetings with the Comrat authorities, Hulusi Kiliç went to Vulcanesti, where the town’s dedication day is marked today. On the occasion of the 304th anniversary of the settlement’s documentary attestation, the Vulcanesti mayoralty prepared a programme of cultural and artistic events, due to end with a sports tournament and an action for elderly persons.
