Dignity and Truth Platform Party, Liberal Democratic Party decide to support candidate of Action and Solidarity Party leader at presidential elections

Chisinau, 15 October /MOLDPRES/- The National Political Council of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party (PPDA) and of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) decided to back candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) Maia Sandu at the 30 October presidential elections. PPDA leader Andrei Nastase and PLDM leader Viorel Cibotaru made the statement today.
During a news conference held in Mindresti settlement, Telenesti district, Nastase said “it would be better for the country that a reliable partner should be by our side. This partner is the Action and Solidarity Party. We have to consolidate the powers for the sake of Moldova, therefore we decided to support Maia Sandu in this presidential election,” he said.
Also, PLDM council decided to support the common candidate nominated by PAS, PPDA and PLDM for the president position. “PLDM team voted unanimously for nominating the common candidate for the president position on behalf of the three factions – Maia Sandu. I appreciate the effort of our colleagues and thanks for it. It is a mature decision and I think that now we have to consolidate our efforts to defeat,” Cibotaru said.
Following the official appointment of the common candidate, PAS leader Maia Sandu said she took responsibility to build a different political establishment. “We will start a real fight against corruption and will build a country and society in which the state institutions will operate in the interest of citizen,” Sandu said.
Direct presidential elections will take place in Moldova on 30 October 2016. CEC has recorded 12 candidates for the Moldovan president post: Marian Lupu – on behalf of the Democratic Party, Mihai Ghimpu – Liberal Party, Iurie Leanca – European People’s Party of Moldova, Andrei Nastase – Dignity and Truth Political Party, Ina Popenco – Ravnopravie (Equality of Rights), Dumitru Ciubasenco – Our Party, Maia Sandu – Action and Solidarity Party and Igor Dodon – Party of Socialists, Silvia Radu – independent candidate, Maia Laguta – independent candidate, Ana Gutu – Right Party and Valeriu Ghiletchi – an independent candidate.
