Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/- The leader of the Democratic Party (PDM), Marian Lupu today presented his presidential platform. It is focused on “development of a strong and prosperous country”.

Lupu said three priority directions had been set when elaborating the electoral programme. “First major goal is country’s human capital. Thus, we are committed to develop education, healthcare, social protection, family protection, strengthening relation between the state and the church, as well as maintaining ties with diaspora. The second field is national economy, we aim at drawing European investments, creating and developing industrial enterprises, agricultural field and new jobs,” he said.

“Third major goal is functioning and strengthening state. We are set to combat corruption, strengthen justice, national security and reintegration of Transnistrian region. I want us to do everything that depends on us in order to create necessary prerequisites as during the presidential mandate it should be possible to officially apply for getting candidate country status for EU membership”, he said.

Attending the event on launching the electoral programme, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu said Moldova needed a president who would be able to balance the situation in the country. “He must be able to take important decisions and to propose significant solutions during crisis periods. We are sure Lupu is able to meet these requirements, as well as to support carrying out reforms and an efficient foreign policy,” Candu said.

For his part, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that so far, it had been managed to regain confidence of foreign partners, to pay debts for subsidies in agriculture, to increase pensions and wages. “We represent a team and just so it will be possible for parliament, government and president to follow the same path for modernizing Moldova. Ensuring European integration of the country, returning Moldova on economic development and signing of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund are needed to ensure Moldova’s modernization,” Filip said.
