Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/ – The leader of Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) Maia Sandu, demanded today that the Parliament review the modality the students vote, by means of which they could vote in the settlement where studying.
PAS leader told at a press conference that "only the young people who reside in localities where they study will be able to vote there, others will have to go to the homeland. Thus, among all categories of the population, young people are the most determined to leave the country if the situation does not improve soon, and discouraging them from going to vote in the locality where they study is a way to get them to leave it even faster," said Sandu.
The head of PAS also said that "previously, it would not be desirable to include in the agenda of the Parliament a bill that would have allowed young people to vote in the locality where they study, provided that they are making a statement confirming that they will not vote elsewhere. This would be a good solution, given that most students do not have the financial possibility to go home and vote there exactly", said Sandu.
Finally, Maia Sandu came with an urge to young people to participate in the presidential elections.
The press service of the Central Election Commission (CEC) announced earlier that pupils and students would participate in presenting the presidential elections on election day at the polling station where they resided or had a valid residence identity document.
However, if they failed to declare their new place of residence until 29 September 2016, voters may address at the electoral office of residence or available residence and obtain a voting right certificate, which allows them to vote in any other polling station. This procedure will be valid from 10–29 October 2016. Based upon the certificate for voting, on the election day, citizens write in the supplementary list and the certificate remains in polling station and is attached to the additiponal list.
On 30 October, in Moldova there will be held direct elections of the President of Moldova.
