Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/- The Japanese embassy today donated a consignment of modern equipment amounting to 100,000 dollars for 12 Moldovan vocational schools.

Japanese Ambassador to Moldova Masanobu Yoshii said that the Japanese government backed the development of the Moldovan educational system by adjusting it to the international level. “So far, Japan has provided financial assistance worth 150 million dollars for developing industry, improving living conditions, modernizing agriculture and health care,” the official said.

For her part, Education Minister Corina Fusu thanked the Japanese authorities for the donation noting that most vocational schools from Moldova had no modern equipment for training pupils.

“Due to this assistance, the young people will have the opportunity to get a better practical training necessary for economic market requirements. The ministry collaborates with various international organizations to adjust the professional technical educational institutions to international standards, as well as to scientific developments,” Fusu said.

Donation is part of the grant agreement on carrying out non-project grant programme in education, signed in 2015, between the Moldovan and Japanese governments.
