National Army deploys 90 servicemen to multinational exercise in Germany

Chisinau, 20 October /MOLDPRES/- A contingent of National Army made up of 90 servicemen participates in the Mission Readiness Exercise (KFOR MRE 22) on 20 October-6 November 2016, held at the military training centre in Hohenfels, Germany.
Lieutenant colonel Andrei Taranu said the servicemen would be trained in theoretical and practical sessions, in line with a scenario focused on the situation in operations in Kosovo. Infantry troops will be trained to carry out missions at checkpoints, crowd control and to conduct patrols, and sappers will have specific missions.
Servicemen from Albania, Armenia, Croatia, Germany, Georgia, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and USA are trained at the Mission Readiness Exercise, meant to prepare for international peacekeeping operations. The National Army participates in the exercises from Germany since 2012.
According to sources in the Defence Ministry, the servicemen attending the above-mentioned exercise will be part of next contingents of the National Army, which will be deployed to KFOR mission in Kosovo. A contingent made up of 41 soldiers is operating now in Kosovo.
