National Army sappers deployed to KFOR mission in Kosovo

Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/- A team of sappers within the National Army deployed to the KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo have performed the Dog Tail operation on administrative boundary line between Kosovo and Serbia.
According to KFOR-V contingent commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Adrian Efros, the Dog Tail operation took place at the request of justice and police mission EULEX in Kosovo and was meant to conduct engineering research to discover and destroy unused ammunition remaining after the war. The sappers were assisted by a dog specialized in detecting explosives of the Ukrainian army.
The Moldovan sappers investigated an area of over 2 hectares of land and identified two mines M87 and 10 mechanisms for initiating explosion.
Efros said the sappers’ activities had been inspected by Major General Giovanni Fungo and Multinational Battle Group West Commander, Colonel Giovanni Giagheddu.
