Moldova's National Army sappers trained in defusing explosives

Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/- The Land Force Command of the National Army in cooperation with the U.S. European Command perform a training course in defusing explosives by involving all subunits of the National Army.
According to Chief of Engineer Service of the National Army, Lieutenant-Colonel Serghei Chilivnic, the team of sappers, made up of 15 servicemen, is studying typology and methods for destruction of munitions, safety rules, consequences of explosions, storing and transporting explosive devices, on 17 October-4 November. Also, the programme includes practical activities for identifying, detecting and transporting munitions.
Chilivnic also noted that the activity was part of a project on humanitarian assistance, carried out by the U.S. Government in Moldova since 2013. The project sees training the National Army staff in defusing explosive devices, as well as special equipment donations.
According to statistics data by the Defence Ministry, in January-September 2016, the National Army sappers liquidated 573 explosives in different settlements of the country.
