Science to Business platform launched in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/ – "There is no doubt that without focusing upon a new model, based on import of technologies, technological transfer and development of these ones in Moldova, it will be rather difficult for our country to become a competitive state." This statement made today Deputy Minister of Economy Vitalie Iurcu, in a forum at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM), where it was launched "Science to Business" platform.
According to Deputy Minister of Economy, nowadays nearly all countries, including those states with which the Republic of Moldova holds cooperation association, among them being: Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic, etc., are focused on this goal, acknowledging that without progress in technology, technological transfer, it is impossible to be at a competitive level, developed the Ministry of Economy’s press service.
Hereafter, Vitalie Iurcu welcomed the idea of "Science to Business" platform start and expressed confidence that between business and academic domain should be a feasible teamwork so as to be possible to achieve a potential progress. "I think the potential and experience that has the academic community in Moldova should be made available to businesses to achieve those projects where we have more competitive advantages," said the deputy minister of economy.
Also, Vitalie Iurcu noted that similar meetings should be more frequent, as it is a very good platform both to discuss existing problems, so to display presentations of academic field success stories in implementing common projects and so on.
At his turn, President of ASM, academician Gheorghe Duca emphasized the need to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between the research environment and business, and pointed out that it would be the only way to ensure the competitiveness of the Republic of Moldova on national and international arenas.
According to academician Ion Tighineanu, prime Vice President of ASM, the launch of interaction between business and the scientific research is a very good initiative in the context of new realities and opportunities which emerged due to association of the national academic community with the European programs, in particular Horizon 2020 and COSME projects. "I expect the new opportunities that will be described in presentations today to stimulate the scientific innovation and technology transfer results into practical implementations," Ion Tighineanu said.
The initiative to create "Science to Business" platform belongs to Agency for Innovation and Technology Transfer (AITT) and goals to facilitate communication between business representatives and the research community. In this context, according to the Agency General Director Roman Chirca, AITT wants to create a Business-Science platform for it to serve as a dynamic one, of interaction and of new projects launching, to imply all counterparts that are involved into innovation and technology transfer processes, to achieve this energy development both in research sector and business, based on innovations. The agency director also said that currently the main actors were AITT and about 30 innovative companies that had been identified and were ready to be part of the platform.
