Moldovan electoral body to equip more polling stations with special system for disabled

Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/ – The Central Election Commission (CEC) will install within three polling stations of Moldova special systems for people with disabilities.
According to CEC’s press service, these measures have been taken to respect the constitutional rights of these people.
So, in three polling stations in Chisinau (polling station no. 1/22, mixed nursery-kindergarten nr. 49, str. Independence 32/2; no. 1/152, Casa Radio, str. Miorita 1; no. 1/177 high school "Constantin Negruzzi", str. Igor Vieru 6/2), there will be people who to provide the translation in sign language the communication between the polling stations’ members and voters with hearing disabilities.
Also, in polling station no. 5/3 in Basarabeasca town, polling station no. 1/137 in Chisinau and polling station 2/36 in Balti, there will be installed for special television systems to allow zooming ballot for persons with visual disabilities.
At the presidential elections of 30 October, the polling stations will be equipped, for the first time, with magnifying glasses, to facilitate the voting of low-sighted.
The project is implemented by NGO Alianta Infonet (Alliance Infonet) in partnership with Asociatia Motivatie (Association Motivation), Association of the Deaf and Medico-Social Rehabilitation Center for low-sighted people "Low Sight" in the Republic of Moldova.
On October 30, there will be held direct presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova.
