Moldovan deputy foreign minister attends international conference Development and Democracy

Chisinau, 27 October /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Lilian Darii took part in the 2016 International Conference on Development and Democracy that is organized under the aegis of the Slovak Presidency of the Council of European Union on 27 October in Bratislava, under the heading “Sustainable World with No One Left Behind”, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's information and media communication service has reported.
It brought together the international community of NGOs, academics, practitioners and decision makers to discuss issues of sustainable development, migration, housing, and many more.
Speaking at the session “How can development cooperation and humanitarian assistance work better together to address current migration and security challenges?”, Deputy Minister Darii underlined the need to streamline policies in the area of humanitarian and development assistance as a tool to curb migration flows from underdeveloped and developing countries, as well as implement efficient crisis management and conflict prevention activities to eliminate root causes of illegal migration. The Moldovan official also mentioned the efforts of his country to embed sustainable development goals into the reform agenda, including into migration policies.
In his meeting on the sidelines of the event with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Netherlands Yoka Brandt, Deputy Minister Darii discussed about the Moldovan-Dutch bilateral agenda and the cooperation between the two countries within the frameworks of international organizations.
