Moldovan Security and Information Service conducts anti-terrorist exercise on border with Ukraine

Chisinau, 27 October /MOLDPRES/ – The Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) of the Republic of Moldova in cooperation with the Department of Border Police of the Interior Ministry and Security Service of Ukraine hold on 26 October 2016 an antiterrorist exercise at the Moldovan-Ukrainian Border Police Sector "Basarabeasca", the Press Service of the Intelligence and Security Service has announced.
According to SIS’s Press Service, the application had as objective the assessment procedures, strengthening cooperation reflexes and inter-operability of national and regional training, and education of subdivisions in the preparation and execution of anti-terrorism operations in the border area and checking reaction times in a hypothetical situation.
The scenario included several missions for participants, including identification of a group of suspected people in Moldova of belonging to the mercenary and terrorist formations, who intended to illegally cross the state border.
Also, security forces had the mission to gather information on suspected terrorists, their relationships with other stakeholders, spinning, monitoring travel directions, which were later detained.
Simulations were planned and coordinated by SIS Antiterrorist Center.
