Moldovan parliament invites civil society to participate in improving legislation on decision-making transparency

Chisinau, 27 October /MOLDPRES/ - The first meeting of the working group for analyzing proposals of the civil society, in order to amend the legislation on transparency in the decision-making process, took place on 26 October, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The parliament and civil society join their forces to amend the concerned legislation, as a result of proposals formulated at a yearly conference, Cooperation between Parliament and Civil Society, held in July 2016.
The working group, set up under an instruction by parliament speaker from 30 September 2016, is made up of representatives of all factions and parliamentary groups, civil society, Justice Ministry and parliament’s secretariat. The working group’s members are to cumulate all proposals received from the civil society, MPs, government and elaborate, on their basis, legislative proposals.
Traditionally, the national council of NGOs from Moldova is partner in organizing the annual conference, Cooperation between Parliament and Civil Society. The Council appointed, at a request by the parliament, the most active members with juridical specialization. At the same time, the parliament invites also the other public associations/NGOs to get involved, in order elaborate a string of draft laws to improve the decision-making transparency.

The cumulated proposals, structured by the working group, will be subjected to public discussions, both on parliamentary platform and through the platforms of the non-governmental sector.
