Moldovan foreign minister participates at debates on Eastern Partnership in Riga. Latvia

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Galbur, participated along with other senior officials at a debate session on the development of the Eastern Partnership within this year edition of Riga Conference, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
Discussions focused on future Partnership, in particular options to boost this dimension of EU foreign policy.
The suggested cooperation measures covered several key areas: good governance and democratic development; market access and investment; interconnections, including transport and energy; people to people contacts, youth development programs and vocational education.
The experts, attending the discussion and challenges, examined factors that might affect the development of the Eastern Partnership in its perspectives. There were mentioned as challenges affecting the entire European continent, such as migration crisis and threats to regional security, so the less obvious ones, such as the commitment of participating countries and EU Member States.
Later on the participation in debates, Minister Andrei Galbur emphasized their importance to formulation of visions and proposals to the next Eastern Partnership Summit, which is to be held in the second half of 2017, under the auspices of the Estonian EU presidency.
