Moldova holds National Day of creating green areas

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/ – Several actions were organized on 29 October 2016 in the Republic of Moldova on the occasion of the National Day of creating green areas "Un arbore pentru dainuirea noastra" (A tree for our future). According to the Government’s plan, in the Moldovan localities, there were planted nearly 250 thousand trees and shrubs.

In the work of greening, there were planted seedlings in the national forest, as well as on other owners’ lands. The Ministry of Transports and Road Infrastructure organized rehabilitation of forest belts on auto and rail routes, while Agency "Moldsilva" provided planting material.

"Traditionally, state institutions participate in greening activities, like the following: representatives of Moldovan Parliament – in Straseni forestry enterprise, employees of Moldovan Presidency – Nature Reserve "Plaiul Fagului" (Land of Beech), Moldovan Government officials – undertaking Orhei forestry, employees of Agency "Moldsilva" – Tighina forestry etc.," specified the sources from "Moldsilva".

This season a large number of trees and shrubs are to be planted in Chisinau – 21,000 saplings, Basarabeasca – 28,000, Nisporeni – 23,000, Ialoveni – 20,000, Anenii Noi – 19,000 and Cantemir – 10,000.

At the same time, for autumn 2016, subordinate enterprises to "Moldsilva" have envisaged several activities, including the establishment of forest crops on an area of ​​approximately 800 hectares, filling forest space on about two hectares of land, vegetation cover forestry of 700 ha etc.

The National Day of creating green areas "Un arbore pentru dainuirea noastra" (A tree for our future)was established by presidential decree in 1995 and is held yearly on the last Saturday of October.
