Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/ – The electoral candidates are banned to do on 29 and 30 October campaigning for presidential elections to be held on Sunday, 30 October 2016.
The press service of the Central Election Commission (CEC) said the campaigning to be prohibited on Election Day and the one before it. "Within these days, it is not allowed deployment or coverage of activities/materials related to campaigning or election candidates to appear on TV and radio. Also, candidates can not perform steering into or out of the account with statement – Election fund," stated the cited source.
The continuation of campaigning in those days is an administrative offense and is punishable by a fine of 10 – 20 conventional units (200-400 lei) applicable to individuals and from 40 – 50 conventional units (800-1000 lei) applied to electoral candidate.
At the same time, this prohibition does not refer to information already posted on the internet and external posters.
Tomorrow, 30 October, in Moldova there will be held direct presidential elections. In the election race have remained nine candidates: Mihai Ghimpu – PL (Liberal Party), Iurie Leanca – PPEM (People’s European Party of Moldova), Dumitru Ciubasenco – PN (Our Party), Maia Sandu – PAS (Party of Action and Solidarity), PPDA (Platform Party Dignity and Truth), PLDM (Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova), Igor Dodon – PSRM (Socialist Party of Moldova), Silvia Radu – independent candidate Maia Laguta – independent candidate, Ana Gutu – Partidul Dreapta (Party of Equity of Rights) and Valeriu Ghiletchi – independent candidate.
If none of them accumulates at least half of the votes, in two weeks time it will be set the second round, where citizens will choose between two candidates who will gather the most votes in the first round.
