Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/ – The Republic of Moldova will move to winter time on the night of Saturday 29 October to Sunday 30 October 2016. So, on Sunday at 03:00 a.m., the hands of the clocks will be shifted an hour ago, and this day will be the longest one of the year.
The change will come under the proposal of UN European Economic Commission and along with the European Community member states.
The Republic of Moldova has resorted to "winter time shift" since 1979, for optimum use of the daylight and in order to reduce the artificial lighting.
According to experts, the transition to winter time can cause discomfort and anxiety because of the body's biological rhythm change. Psychologists argue that the time change is more a psychological problem.
Switching from summer time to winter time occurs in about 70 countries in Europe which observe time difference.
