About 3 per cent of voters present at ballot boxes by 08:00

Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/- Over 67,000 voters, 2.7 per cent were present at the ballot boxes by 08:00.
The head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Alina Russu, said that all polling stations in the country had been opened at 07:00, being equipped with necessary electoral logisitics. “Taking into account time differences and timezones, 37 polling stations out of the 100 opened abroad started working. The first ones were in Tokyo, Japan, in Beijing, China, in Krasnoyarsk and Nizhnevartovsk from Russia, and in Baku, Azerbaijan. Other 46 election offices start working now. Other polling stations will be opened at 07:00 of the respective countries,” Russu said.
The CEC head said that all polling stations were operating in normal regime, having no incidents. “At the same time, we have been informed by representatives of General Inspectorate of Police that in Orhei settlement, at some polling stations, citizens are not motivated to vote, which means hindering free exercise of the right to vote. Citizens are informed about legal provisions and all conditions are created for electors to vote,” Russu said.
“The first preliminary data on results we will present around 22:00,” Russu said.
Direct presidential elections took place in Moldova today. The citizens will have to choose between nine candidates for president position: Mihai Ghimpu – Liberal Party, Iurie Leanca – European People’s Party of Moldova, Dumitru Ciubasenco – Our Party, Maia Sandu – Action and Solidarity Party, the Dignity and Truth Platform Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, Igor Dodon – Party of Socialists, Silvia Radu – independent candidate, Maia Laguta – independent candidate, Ana Gutu – Right Party and Valeriu Ghiletchi – an independent candidate.
