Over ten per cent of voters present to ballot boxes by 10.00 in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/ – Almost 298 thousand voters, which consists 10,53 per cent, have presented to the ballot boxes by 10.00 hours.

The chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Alina Russu declared that at present all all polling stations which were opened function in a normal mode. “Over forty eight per cent are women, and around fifty two per cent are men. Among the total number of people who exercised their voting right, about 6 per cent are citizens of 18 – 25 years old, more than 17 per cent – 26 – 40 years old, over 27 per cent – 41 – 55 years old and above 39 per cent – 56 – 70 years old,” said Russu.

At the same time, the voting district with the highest attendance to the ballot boxes is Donduseni (12,54 per cent), the lowest being UTA Gagauzia (7,19 per cent). The locality with the most active voters is Pocrovca in Donduseni district (41,11 per cent), the most passive are voters of Tatarasti locality, Straseni district (2,9 per cent). The polling station which has registered the highest rate of participation of the voters is section no. 12 in Elizavetovca locality, Donduseni district (17,52 per cent), and the opposite being section no. 143 in sectorul Centru (Centre sector), Chisinau municipality (6,48 per cent).

The CEC chairman mentioned that there have not been registered any incidents or violations on the elections conducted. "Regarding the earthquake of this morning in Italy, please note that polling stations opened activity is in a normal way. Until present, we do not possess any information about that activity of the polling stations in that country should be stopped", said Alina Russu.

At the same time, CEC has not registered any appeals which were submitted on electoral candidates’ actions or on decisions and/or actions taken by lower electoral bodies.

Today, in the Republic of Moldova take place the direct presidential elections. There are expected 2,8 million citizens at the ballot boxes.
