Moldovan Socialists' candidate leads with 48.72 % over common right-wing candidate with 37.94 % after 98 % of reports processed

Chisinau, 31 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has informed about the processing of 98 per cent of the reports.

According to CEC data, the candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon picked up 48.72 per cent of the votes, Maia Sandu (Action and Solidarity Party, Dignity and Truth Platform Party, Liberal Democratic Party) – 37.94 per cent, Dumitru Ciubasenco (Our Party) – 6.01 per cent, Mihai Ghimpu (Liberal Party) – 1.81 per cent, Iurie Leanca (European People’s Party of Moldova) – 3.14 per cent, Silvia Radu (independent candidate) – 0.4 per cent, Maia Laguta (independent candidate) – 0.76 per cent, Ana Gutu (Right Party) – 0.17 per cent and Valeriu Ghiletchi (independent candidate) – 1.05 per cent.    

At the same time, CEC said that 1.433 million electors (48.97 per cent) had voted at the today’s ballot.

If none of the candidates grab at least a half of the electors' votes, the runoff will be organised in two weeks, during which the citizens will elect between the first two electoral contenders who picked up most votes in the first round of the ballot.

Today, 31 October, at 10:00, CEC is to inform about the preliminary results of the presidential polls.
