Many Moldovan customs officers detained in case on corruption

Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/- More customs officers today were detained in a case on corruption after raids conducted by the officers of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) at Leuseni and Sculeni customs points. CNA press officer Angela Starinschi confirmed the information on the matter.
After more than 3 hours, Sculeni and Leuseni customs points were reopened, the operation is carried out by CNA officers.
“Seven customs officers had been detained so far. The operation is under development, searches are performed at the two customs offices. We will provide more details further,” Starinschi said.
After the raids, the Customs Service announced the initiation of two service inquires in order to set all circumstances of the illegalities.
Also, following a request by the investigation bodies, the Internal Security Department provided assistance in investigating cases on disciplinary offenses and corrupt behavior among employees.
On 30 September 2016, other 28 customs officers of Tudora and Palanca border crossing points were detained in a similar operation.
