Moldovan cabinet approves way parental allowances are calculated, paid

Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - The government, at a today’s meeting, approved a regulation on the conditions for establishing the parental allowances, the way they are calculated and paid.
Under the document, the parental leave is provided for 14-day period, in order to ensure father’s effective participation in the care of the newborn child. The leave is given in the first 56 days following the child’s birth, based on a written application by the wage earner, with the annexation of the child’s certificate of birth.
The right to parental allowances is provided to father with residence in Moldova,` insured in the public system of social insurances, employed under individual labour contract or who is in employment relationship based on the administrative act, to take care of the newborn child.
The parental allowance is calculated and paid for calendar days. The income provided for one calendar day is determined by dividing the average monthly insured income to the number of calendar days of the month for which the allowance is paid.
The establishing, record and organization of the paternal allowances’ payment is made by the National Social Insurances House.
