Moldovan government approves new regulations on providing social assistance

Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved a regulation on the organization and work of the National Social Assistance Agency. The institution will carry out its activity as authority in charge of optimizing the social protection system of Moldova, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
In its work, the Agency will coordinate and monitor the quality of social assistance services provided to citizens, will consider applications and complaints received and will strengthen the professional capacities of the staff in this sector. Under the document, the structure will have 19 employees, who will be identified at the Labour, Social Protection and Family Ministry.
Also, the Agency will get involved in working out a methodological framework for the unitary implementation of the legislation in the social assistance field and will manage the activity of social assistance and rehabilitation institutions in which the Labour, Social Protection and Family Ministry has status of founder.
Also today, the government approved a regulation on conditions of establishing the way the parental allowances are calculated and paid. The decision is aimed at ensuring a normative framework for guaranteeing the right to financial assistance of the father, to take care of the newborn child, under the provisions of article 124 of the Labour Code, which stipulates that the father of the newborn child benefits from a leave of 14 days, in order to ensure his participation in the taking care of the child.
