Business people from 20 countries attend international investment forum

Chisinau, 5 November /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip has encouraged business people to invest in Moldova. He noted that the authorities would provide European conditions for regulating the activity of entrepreneur and for protecting investments. He made the statement at the second issue of an international investment forum “Invest Gagauzia”, with the participation of investors from 20 countries, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The premier congratulated the authorities of Gagauzia for the good organization of the forum, noting that this event could serve as an example for other regions of Moldova, which had to take measures to be more attractive for business community.

“If we really want to improve the living conditions of our citizens, we have to start with effective policies for regulating business environment. We have already taken more measures in fight with bureaucracy and corruption and will continue at the same pace,” he said.

At the same time, the premier referred to the reforms launched by the government and measures taken to facilitate the activity of business people, of which: reducing the control institutions from about 70 to 13 and 5 independent regulation authorities, 25-per cent-decrease in number of permissive documents, unifying reports for presenting to authorities.

“I will insistently promote in future the need to change the attitude of authorities towards business people. Entrepreneurs are the primary source for the national welfare. Respect for entrepreneurs and care for investors are among the main priorities of activity of the government starting from 2016,” he said.

Attending the event, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Yıldırım Tuğrul Turkeș remarked the progress made by Moldova in the last period, noting that Turkey was an important partner of Moldova. At the same time, the Turkish official said there was potential for increasing the bilateral trade exchanges, and the Moldovan-Turkish free trade agreement significantly facilitated the process.

For her part, bashkan of Gagauzia Irina Vlah said the autonomy had necessary infrastructure and access to ways of communication, which facilitated the exports and activity of entrepreneurs. A free economic zone exists in Vulcanesti and an industrial park is in Comrat.

The forum is organized the second year in a row in Comrat and aims at promoting the region and drawing investors both from Moldova and from abroad. The issue of this year is organized with the topic “Gagauzia 360 degrees”, that means total opening for collaboration with all interested sides.
