Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/- No tool to defend human rights exists in the Transnistrian region. The Executive Director of the Promo-LEX Association, Ion Manole, made the statement today.

Any person, becoming a victim in the region of the left bank of the Dniestre, would have no chance to obtain justice without the support of relatives, who should make significant efforts or find access to the nongovernmental institutions. “Thus, as a result of these cases, people are forced to leave this region without financial means or other properties. Unfortunately, we have no access to the left bank of the Dniestre, as the authorities do not allow us to analyze the situation, moreover, these organizations are persecuted,” Manole said.

Promo-LEX lawyer Nicoleta Hriplivii said that the judicial system in the left bank of the Dniestre did not guarantee a fair process or methods which could help mistreated victims to get justice. “On 4 November, a session took place to assess each member state of United Nations, in terms of implementation of documents. Moldova unveiled the report, subsequently, the other countries came up with concrete recommendations to improve the situation in the Transnistrian region, where the people have no fair justice and are forced to appeal to the nongovernmental organizations or international institutions,” Hriplivii said.

There are about 70 cases to the European Court of Human Rights, represented by Promo-LEX lawyers. Decisions on over 40 cases are pending, and other four ones were won – cases on Mozer, Casian, Pisari and Canatan.
