Moldovan electoral body reiterates ways of voting for runoff of presidential elections

Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/- The Central Election Commission (CEC) today reiterated ways of voting for runoff of the presidential elections.

The CEC’s press service noted that the statements on new place of residence submitted at the local public administration body were valid for the runoff too.

At the same time, the applications on voting with mobile ballot box can be made in written form till 18:00 of the day before voting, 12 November 2016. On election day, the applications can be submitted in written form till 15:00, if medical certificate is present. Only citizens with visual disabilities can apply for voting at the place of residence, including verbally. The above-mentioned people participate in the polls under the list of voters on vote at domicile, set by the electoral office of polling station in line with the requests. The applications on vote at domicile for the first round are not valid for the runoff.

Also, the persons, who on election day are not in settlement of residence, may ask the electoral office of the polling station for a certificate for voting. It is issued under the identity card attesting residence of voter within the polling station. The certificate for voting allows the elector to vote in any polling station that the one which is ascribed.

The runoff of the presidential elections will take place on 13 November 2016. Citizens will be able to elect between candidates who picked up the highest number of votes in the first round – leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon and leader of Action and Solidarity Party Maia Sandu.
