Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ – "The program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is a proof that we have managed to overcome the crisis of credibility. At the moment we are moving towards economic stability and a favourable framework for modernization and development", said today the Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu at the press briefing held with Prime Minister Pavel Filip, after the IMF Executive Board’s decision to approve a new program with Moldova, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
Andrian Candu thanked Members of the parliamentary majority, international development partners and civil society for supporting the launch or re-launch of prior reforms. According to him, cooperation between Parliament, Government and the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) in the recent 10 months demonstrates that state interests are above the party or group interests.
"Moldovan Parliament will maintain its support and will continue to provide full support to the Government. We are also open and will work with the future President of the Republic of Moldova to implement reforms that we have assumed in front of the citizens and our external partners. Whoever will be the new President, she or he, we are expecting to get involved into promoting reforms and work with dedication. We have proved that we can work differently and results can be achieved in a very short period of time," said Parliament Speaker Adrian Candu.
At his part, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that "this new program with the International Monetary Fund is committed to a successful implementation of the reform of the legal framework to ensure the prevention of money laundering, combating corruption and increasing transparency. It also provides BNM action to impose enforcement measures to strengthen corporate governance in banks, a balanced budget fiscal policy, to ensure debt sustainability. We will have more transparency and accountability in the implementation of investment projects with external funding. The agreement also envisages the gradual measures to restore the viability of the energy sector," said the prime minister.
