About 45,000 voters present at ballot boxes by 08:00

Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/- About 45,000 voters were present at ballot boxes by 08:00.

The head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Alina Russu, said that all polling stations of the country had been opened at 07:00. “Taking into account of time differences and hour zones, 37 polling stations out of the 100 opened from abroad started working, the first ones being in Tokyo, Japan, Beijing, China, Krasnoyarsk and Nizhnevartovsk in Russia, Baku, Azerbaijan. Presently other 46 election offices start working. The other polling stations will be opened at 07:00 of these countries,” Russu said.

The CEC head said that all polling stations were operating in normal regime, with no incidents. “First preliminary data on results we will present around 22:00,” Russu said.

Runoff of the direct presidential elections takes place in Moldova today. Citizens will be able to elect between candidates who picked up the highest number of votes in the first round – leader of PSRM Igor Dodon and leader of PAS Maia Sandu.
