Over forty three per cent of voters present at ballot boxes by 16.00 in Moldova

Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/ – More than 1,268 million voters (over 43 per cent of citizens with voting rights) presented to the ballot boxes by 16.00 hours.
During the first round of the presidential election, up to this time, there had voted about 1,140 million voters (39 per cent), i.e. 4 per cent less than today.
The Central Electoral Commission’s (CEC) chairman Alina Russu said in a press conference that all open polling stations were developing their activity in a normal way. "About 53 per cent of voters are women and about 48 per cent are men. Out of the total number of people who have exercised their right to vote, about 10 per cent are citizens aged between 18-25, over 25 per cent – aged 26 – 40, around 26 per cent – aged between 41 -55, 30 per cent aged between 56 – 70 and about 8 per cent aged over 71," said Russu.
"At the same time, the constituency which recorded the highest voters turnout is Rezina (44 per cent), the lowest being in Cantemir (32 per cent). The locality with the most active voters is Pocrovca in Donduseni district (75 per cent), most passive voters are in Corjeuti village, Briceni district (19 per cent). Similarly, it has been noticed a significant increase in turnout of Moldovan citizens from the Transnistrian region", said Alina Russu.
The CEC’s chairman said that abroad voted more than 83 thousand citizens, or around 6,52 per cent. "The countries which recorded the highest frequency of the electoral process are: the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, Italy, France and Romania. All polling stations opened abroad still have ballot papers," said Russu.
At 15.00 closed the polling station in Tokyo, Japan. In the following hours, there will open ten polling stations established in Canada and the USA.
Similarly, it was determined that a broadcaster had campaigning today and it is going to be sanctioned according to the law.
At the direct presidential elections are expected 2,8 million voters. The first preliminary data on the election results will be presented at about 22:00 hours.
