Chisinau, 14 November /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu has congratulated President-elect Igor Dodon. “This is a new exercise for Moldova, to have left-wing president and right-wing governance. Yet, anyway, we will have a constructive institutional cooperation with the newly-elected president by citizens, in the very well-established limits of the Constitution and in the interest of the citizens. The parliament remains committed on the European road, just as it was empowered by the citizens,” the speaker said, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
According to him, Moldova’s European future does not depend on a single man, be he also president. “Moldova will follow its European course, going through a period of deep, sometimes difficult reforms, yet absolutely necessary. At the same time, the head of state has the task to be president of the whole nation and of each citizen separately,” Andrian Candu stressed.
The parliament speaker congratulated also Maia Sandu, stressing that both candidates had gone through a difficult campaign. “The presidential polls showed that Moldova is quite divided and is divided on many exaggerated and false topics. For the next period, it is important that all of us make efforts to consolidate the society,” Andrian Candu said.
The parliament speaker welcomed the massive and unprecedented involvement of the Diaspora and people from the left bank of Dniester in the elections. According to Candu, the vote of people from Bender, Dubasari, Comrat or London has the same value.
“We are a single country, and we have obligation to ensure our citizens’ right to vote and elect the president. Yet, certainly, we everybody have lessons to learn following this ballot. I urge you to overcome the emotions related to the polls as quickly as possible and start working, everybody at his/her place. After all, everybody wants the same thing – a better life, a prosperous country and a functional state in the service of the citizens,” Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu added.
