Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/- Hot line callers have notified many violations during the runoff of the presidential elections. The head of the Centre for Analysis and Prevention of Corruption, Galina Bostan, made the statement today.
During the runoff of polls, 30 people called the hot line, down by 20 than in the first round of the presidential elections. “People were interested in the polling place, documents for their participation in elections, and noticed irregularities in electoral rolls, as well as problems in the activity of election bodies,” Bostan said.
Also, they noticed a string of violations related to “corruption of voters in front of polling stations, some individuals pointed to electors on how to vote, the others got food parcels, and problems on requests of mobile ballot box,” Bostan said.
For her part, the head of the Centre for Investigative Journalism, Cornelia Cozonac, said that during the election campaign, the journalists’ access to information had been repeatedly restricted. “We asked the Central Election Commission to provide access to subscription lists of electoral candidates and to financial reports of contenders. We have not received the requested information. Therefore, we will submit applications to court for violating the right to have access to information, as well as violation of citizens’ right to be informed,” Cozonac said.
The hot line was set up within the “Clean Elections” Initiative.
