Chisinau, 15 November /MOLDPRES/ – Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, at the end of mandate, discussed in Chisinau on good cooperation between Moldova and Bulgaria, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
The main discussion topics focused on the political situation after the presidential elections in Moldova, the Moldovan – Bulgarian diversification agenda and priorities in implementing reforms.
"The presidential elections were held, according to observers, by international standards, although there are some shortcomings that we know and which we come up with legislative improvements, particularly with regard to citizens voting abroad. Parliament and the Government are proposing a good inter-institutional cooperation with the newly elected president, even if it comes from the opposition, to strengthen society and unite the country's citizens," said Andrian Candu.
According to the speaker, parliament and government will join efforts in implementing a synchronized agenda to bring Moldova closer to EU. At the same time, Andrian Candu announced that the agenda of priorities remained complex and covered reform needs at sectoral level: the fight against corruption, judicial reform, strengthening the banking and energy security, improving the business environment.
"It's important to keep the implementation of the reform agenda, the Association Agreement and Programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and restore the confidence of citizens. Our mission is to develop, through concrete actions and results, a national project attractive to people, but no concessions regarding the association and integration into the EU," said Speaker of Parliament.
Andrian Candu thanked Bulgaria for its support for Moldova's European integration and implementation of the reform agenda priority.
At his part, Bulgarian President encouraged the Moldovan authorities to continue reforms and strengthen institutions. Rosen Plevneliev assured that Bulgaria would continue to support Moldova in its modernization and approximation to EU.
"Bulgaria wants to contribute to Moldova’s success and to share their registered achievements and failures. Do not turn away from the strategic development path – the European integration. We support you and wish you progress, development and courageous decisions," said the Bulgarian President.
