Former deputy governor of National Bank of Moldova to work as long-term adviser to International Monetary Fund

Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/- Former First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), advisor to current governor of BNM will work at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) starting today. The institution invited Marin Molosag as long-term adviser to IMF. He will deal with implementing monetary and exchange rate policy for a group made up of seven states from East Africa.

“BNM was the institution in which I was trained under the professional aspect and I had the honor to work there almost 25 years. I believe the monetary policy from Moldova, carried out by BNM, has significantly advanced in the last years, thus contributing to ensuring macroeconomic stability. This experience will give me the opportunity to contribute to modernizing the monetary policy in other countries,” Molosag said.

For his part, BNM governor Sergiu Cioclea expressed gratitude and appreciation for the activity held by Molosag within the BNM since its creation in 1991. “I thank Molosag for the help and counseling he offered at the beginning of my mandate, his involvement in resuming talks with IMF and negotiating the recently approved programme,” Cioclea said.

Molosag began his career at the BNM in 1992. In 2002-2009, he held the office of deputy governor of BNM, and between December 2009 and April 2016, he served as First Deputy Governor in charge of supervising the areas of monetary policy, technical and financial assistance and managing foreign relations and European integration. On 11 April 2016, he was appointed as advisor to the BNM governor on strategy and development problems.
