Moldovan cabinet rules to increase salaries of teachers from higher education institutions with financial autonomy

Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/ - The minimum quantum of the office salaries of teachers from the higher education institutions with financial autonomy has been increased by 8.6 per cent, under a cabinet decision approved today.     

According to a decision from March 2013, the state guarantees the minimum quantum of office salaries for teachers at the level of the quantum of the monthly salary set for the teachers of the post-graduate higher education institutions financed from the budget. Starting from 1 September 2016, the monthly salaries of teachers and professors have been increased by 8.6 per cent. Respectively, decision makers are to change the minimum guaranteed level also for the higher education institutions with financial autonomy, the Labour, Social Protection and Family Ministry said.  

The minimum quantum of office salaries for rectors ranges from 5,379 to 6,710 lei, depending on the category of the institution. The university professors have guaranteed 4,030 lei, university lecturers – 3,625 lei and senior university lecturers – 3,335 lei.   

The draft provides for the exclusion of the grid of monthly office salaries and setting only of a minimum quantum of office salaries guaranteed by state, and depending on the financial resources available, the institutions’ rectors can increase the quantum proportionally, yet not by more than 1.5-fold.
