Moldovan Socialists' leader submits application on withdrawal from party

Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/- The leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Igor Dodon, has submitted an application on withdrawal from the party, after he won the presidential elections on 13 November.
PSRM’s press service head Carmena Sterpu said “yesterday, in the political executive of PSRM it was noted the application filed by Dodon. It is to be considered at the Republican Council, due on 18 November, and date of convening the PSRM congress will be set, to elect new leader of PSRM,” Sterpu said.
“There are already some candidates for the position of party leader, but they will be known at the Republican Council,” Sterpu noted.
Direct presidential elections took place in Moldova on 13 November. The Central Election Commission announced that after processing 100 per cent of reports, PSRM candidate Igor Dodon picked up 52.18 per cent, and contender of PAS, PPDA, PLDM Maia Sandu got 47.82 per cent of votes.
