Moldovan electoral body validates presidential polls' results

Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ – The Central Election Commission (CEC) has validated, at today meeting, the results of the presidential elections runoff.
The CEC’s Chairman Alina Russu said that over 1.6 million citizens eligible to vote attended the runoff of the presidential elections. "According to the data processed, the Socialists Party’s (PSRM) candidate Igor Dodon gained 834,081 votes, while PAS contender Maia Sandu gathered 766,593 votes. So, it is decided to choose candidate Igor Dodon, who accumulated the most votes in the poll. The Commission’s Decision will be sent within the next three days to the Constitutional Court (CCM)," said Russu.
"The report submitted to CCM will include all citizens’ petitions and complaints, but also a detailed analysis of all complaints submitted to CEC regarding the ballot," said Russu.
After transmission to CCM, the Court will have ten days to confirm or reject the presidential elections’ legality.
If the result of the election of the President of Moldova is validated by CCM, the new president will take an oath in front of the Parliament and the Constitutional Court, not later than forty five days after the election. Moldovan President's mandate is four years and is exercised by giving the oath.
