Moldovan agency to benefit from 70,000 euros on behalf of Lithuania to develop food safety

Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ - The embassy and government of Lithuania in 2017 will provide Moldova with about 70,000 euros for small projects in the sector of food safety, health of animals and plants, the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) informed today.
According to the ANSA press service, representatives of the Lithuanian government, Lithuania’s Ambassador to Moldova Rimantas Latakas, the director of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry’s Development Cooperation Department, Violeta Motulaite, made statements to this effect at an official meeting with the ANSA leadership.
The representatives of Lithuania’s cabinet said that Moldova was in the list of priority countries for which assistance would be provided, among other states of the Eastern Partnership, such as Ukraine and Georgia.
The main subjects tackled at the meeting were focused on the bilateral cooperation in the fields of food safety, health of animals and plants. “In particular, the sides discussed aspects on potential assistance on behalf of Lithuania’s government to strengthen the capacity of work of economic agents involved in the production and processing of milk, in order to align with the European Union’s requirements,” an ANSA press release reads.
This year, Moldova benefitted from a similar aid on behalf of Lithuania, to develop the sector in terms of food supervision and safety.
