Moldovan PM meets with EU ambassadors-at-large for Eastern Partnership

Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip had today a meeting with ambassadors-at-large of the European Union Eastern Partnership, who are on a working visit to Moldova, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister said that their visit was an opportunity to review the actual situation in Moldova and expressed the Government's determination to continue the Association Agreement’s implementation. "The presidential elections can not change the country's European integration option. Moldova is a parliamentary republic. The strategic decisions are adopted by the Parliament and their implementation is the prerogative of the Government. There are constitutional guarantees in this respect, but also a good sense of post-election period of time," said Pavel Filip. The premier expressed confidence that the government would take a constructive cooperation with the elected President.
At the same time, the Moldovan official gave assurances that the government would carry on its efforts to achieve the commitments undertaken under the Association Agreement, while the reforms being inevitable to ensure the citizens’ welfare. "With reference to it, the government is the guardian of the European vector. We designed to make up Moldova which is based on the European values so that every citizen should understand that this is the correct direction," the prime minister said.
The head of the cabinet referred to the program signed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which has provided not only funding, but also constituted a reform agenda. "Year 2015 was a year of crisis, 2016 stabilization, and 2017 is the year of seriousness in the development and accelerated reforms", said Pavel Filip.
At their part, the EU Eastern Partnership Ambassadors-at-large congratulated the Government with successes, including the realization of the Roadmap and setting of a program with IMF, proving a high volume of work performed. On the other hand, the European officials stated that the presidential elections were conducted according to the accepted norms, despite some shortcomings, and that meaning a democratic achievement.
Simultaneously, the European ambassadors-at-large expressed consistently their willingness to support Moldova in promoting reforms that would change the lives of citizens.
In the context, the parts spoke about the need to streamline cooperation dimension of the Eastern Partnership, noting the importance of reinvigorating this regional structure.
