Moldovan PM appreciates good organization of elections to Gagauz popular assembly

Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, at a today’s cabinet meeting, appreciated the good organization of the first round of elections to the Popular Assembly (local parliament) of Gagauzia, held on 20 November, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
“I want to thank all those who got involved in this campaign for the dedication and professionalism proved and I hope very much that the polls’ runoff would be equally transparent and without infringements. Thus, beyond all speculations, we showed that we can hold fair elections in Moldova,” the PM noted.
In the context, the prime minister also said that the Gagauz Autonomous Territorial Unit (UTA Gagauzia) must benefit from the government’s every attention and demanded periodical reporting on the implementation of an action plan concerning the improvement of the social and economic situation in the Gagauz Autonomous Territorial Unit for 2016-2019. In this respect, the PM highlighted the government’s duty to undertake needed measures for developing UTA Gagauzia.
