Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ – The National Social Insurance House will take over, on 1 January 2017, establishing the duties and payment of pensions for employees of force structures. In this regard, the Government today approved a series of amendments and supplements to the law on ensuring pensions for military service men and body control and troops of the internal affairs bodies, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The measure goals to establish a single institution responsible for determining and paying pensions, including employees of force structures and ensure a transparent and efficient use of public funds.
Presently, the ensuring of pensions for conscripts, those satisfying contract service, persons of command corps and troops of the internal affairs bodies and their families is carried out by six different authorities. The audit performance of the pension system in Moldova which was carried out by the Court of Auditors in 2015, found that the pension information system for law enforcement establishment was outdated and did not ensure effective data processing. Simultaneously, the current situation causes lack of systematic information on actual spending of all categories of pensions, the actual number of pensioners in Moldova and other relevant indicators.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip pointed out that this project was the first of a wider concept of reforming the pension system. Following this reform, there will increase the pensions of those who retire since 2017, but there will be also valued pensions of those who retired after 1999 and were disadvantaged for pension calculation. The prime minister concluded that due to the domain implementation, it will be ensured a fair and sustainable system of pensions.
The draft law will be submitted to the Parliament for consideration.
